Android Oreo Distribution Has Increased By 400% Since February

Back in February earlier this year, based on the stats that Google released for Android, it was revealed that Android Oreo had a distribution of about 1.1%. However it seems that in the next two months, those numbers have increased by leaps and bounds by about 400% because according to Google’s latest stats, Android Oreo has been distributed to about 4.5% of Android handsets.

However what’s interesting enough is that in February Android Nougat was the most used version of Android at 28.5% distribution. You would think that with Android Oreo increasing in distribution that Nougat’s distribution would go down, but it seems to be the opposite because the latest figures have revealed that Nougat now commands about 30.8% of Android devices, an increase from a couple of months ago.

As for other versions of Android, it looks like Android Gingerbread is still hanging on at 0.3%, but we wouldn’t be surprised if like Froyo, it will be eventually dropped from the list in the not-too-distant future. Ice Cream Sandwich is still holding on strong, but Jelly Bean seems to have dipped slightly as well.

The most interesting takeaway from these stats are Oreo and Nougat where they have increased by a fair amount. Presumably the releases of Oreo updates helped along with the launching of new phones with Oreo already preinstalled.
