It has long been expected that Chromebooks will receive even better specifications down the line and that’s expected to happen possibly later this year. Some new references have been discovered in the code of this operating system which suggests that there’s a 4K Chromebook being developed with the codename “Atlas.” It was only a matter of time before Chromebooks got such high-resolution displays and it may very well happen this year.
Some new references have been discovered in the Chromium boards.yaml file which reveals that a Chromebook codenamed Atlas features a 3840×2160 pixel resolution display which can be classified as a 4K screen.
No further information has been revealed by the code at this point in time but given that the references have now started to surface, perhaps we might see more pop up in the coming weeks and months which will reveal more information about this mystery Chromebook.
While Chromebooks have largely been aimed at the education market where they have excelled because of their affordable price points, devices like the Pixelbook have demonstrated that a Chromebook with high-end specifications and a price tag to match isn’t such a bad idea after all.
So perhaps the Atlas is going to be one such device but we’ll have to wait for quite some time before it becomes apart who is developing this Chromebook and what it’s specs are going to be.
