Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One X and the Xbox One S will soon receive support for AMD Radeon FreeSync displays. This means that they will be able to support variable refresh rate on compatible displays thus reducing tearing and stuttering for gamers who own such displays. This will go toward creating a more smooth and seamless gaming experience.

The impending Xbox spring update brings 1440p support as it is and with this addition, the consoles will be able to sync refresh rates with displays that are compatible with AMD’s FreeSync technology.

The confirmation was part of Microsoft’s new Inside Xbox monthly series which is meant to pull back the curtain on Team Xbox and provide more information to fans about upcoming features and improvements.

AMD’s FreeSync technology reduces tearing and stuttering while gaming and will this enable the display and the Xbox One to work together for a seamless gaming experience by synchronizing the refresh rate with the console.

This is certainly going to appeal to those who own an Xbox One X or Xbox One S as FreeSync is widely used on gaming monitors. Microsoft has certainly taken a step in the right direction with the addition of 1440p resolution and FreeSync support.
