OnePlus is expected to launch a new flagship smartphone in the coming months and it’s clearing its OnePlus 5T stock prior to that. The OnePlus 5T is a slightly revamped version of last year’s OnePlus 5 that was released in late 2017 and while it’s the only flagship that the company is selling right now, customers in North America will not be able to purchase it. OnePlus has confirmed that all of the OnePlus 5T stock it made for North America has been sold out.
While it’s not uncommon for smartphones to go out of stock particularly if there has been significant demand, the company has confirmed to Engadget that the OnePlus 5T is not temporarily out of stock in this region. All units made for North America have been sold out ahead of schedule.
Kyle Kiang, the head of global marketing and general manager of North America, revealed that the company saw more demand for the OnePlus 5T in North America that it had anticipated. The device was sold in North America for about four months only before it sold out.
What this means is that customers who want to purchase a new OnePlus handset will now have to wait for its next flagship to be released. The OnePlus 6 is expected to be released in the coming months and rumors suggest that it might feature significant hardware improvements compared to its predecessor.
