Nintendo Reportedly Not Developing A Switch 2.0 Yet

It takes a couple of years for a new gaming console to be developed so with Nintendo seeing considerable success with the Switch, many have been wondering if the company has started developing the successor to this console internally. The company hasn’t said anything right now to suggest that it has started working on a Switch 2.0 and if a new report is to be believed, Nintendo isn’t planning on developing a new console just yet.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Nintendo isn’t planning a hardware revision for the Nintendo Switch right now. Sources mentioned in the report claim that Nintendo will look to further increase Switch sales through new peripherals and improved network features.

The report mentions that Nintendo is likely going to introduce new network-related features for the console later this year as well as new peripherals that will be connected via its USB Type-C port.

It’s not really surprising to hear that Nintendo may not be planning a Switch 2.0 right now. The company’s CEO Tatsumi Kimishima has previously expressed interest in expanding the console’s cycle to more than the conventional 5-6 years.

The company recently unveiled Nintendo Labo and it appears to be just one of the ways that it’s going to try and sell more units of the Switch. For now, Nintendo fans can rest easy knowing that their Switch won’t be outdated for quite some time.
