Surface Hub is Microsoft’s lineup of massive smart displays in 55 inch and 84 inch sizes. They’re primarily aimed at business customers. Microsoft has now confirmed that it’s going to unveil the new Surface Hub later this year. The company has been working on the next version of its Surface Hub and plans on sharing more information about it in the first half of this year.
“Surface Hub created an entirely new device category and we’re thrilled with the strong momentum we have seen across the globe,” a spokesperson for Microsoft confirmed to The Verge, adding that “We’re working on V2 and will share more in the first half of this year.”
Microsoft will thus announce the new Surface Hub in the first part of this year but that doesn’t tell us when it’s going to release the new devices. That’s the crucial bit of information that business customers will be most interested in.
The company is also said to be working on a new operating system upgrade for existing Surface Hub devices and might bring many of the features that it introduces with Surface Hub 2 to existing models.
The Surface Hub has proven to be a popular device. Microsoft has sold it to more than 5,000 business customers in 25 countries. More than half of the Fortune 100 companies own a Surface Hub device. Expect additional information about the Surface Hub 2 to be available in the months to come.
