Initially spotted by Mac Otakara, a filing for the device was spotted in the WPC’s Qi Certified Product Database with an accompanying image (see above). The device in question was granted a certification on the 5th of March which means that an official announcement and unveiling could be taking place soon.
What’s interesting is that according to MacRumors, Mophie’s accessory could very well be the first iPhone X battery case on the market that has been certified by the WPC. This extra level of certification doesn’t really change anything, save for the fact that customers can buy it knowing that it works.
According to the filing, the accessory doesn’t seem to pack a particularly big battery. Assuming it’s correct, we’re looking at a 1,720mAh battery which won’t even give the iPhone X a full charge. However the Air lineup of Mophie’s battery cases have been designed to be of a slimmer profile which means that users will have to sacrifice battery for size.
