For the most part the game will still play a lot like Monopoly where players will be able to purchase various properties from the Mario Kart series, such as Rainbow Road and Bowser’s Castle, just to name a few. However there will be also the inclusion of a racing element in the game to make it more Mario Kart-like.
This racing event is triggered when players cross the “Go” mark, where players will then compete against each other for a Grand Prix card. There will also be the use of various Mario Kart weapons and items, such as shells and banana peels. At launch the game will feature four racers which includes Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Toad.
It is also expected that a Power Pack addon will be released later this fall that will bring Bowser, Rosalina, Shy Guy, Metal Mario, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi to the game. Monopoly Gamer: Mario Kart Edition is priced at $25 and will be available via GameStop starting today, and will make its way to more retailers this coming summer.
