LG G7 OLED Display Ruled Out

LG was supposed to launch its new flagship smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2018 last month but reports suggested that the company had sent the LG G7 back to the drawing board. It unveiled a refreshed version of the LG V30 at MWC 2018 and is yet to confirm when the LG G7 is going to be announced. A new report out of South Korea claims that the LG G7 OLED display rumors are incorrect as the device is going to have an LCD display.

The LG G7 OLED display rumors started after it surfaced that the company had privately showcased a device at MWC 2018 called the G7 Neo. That device had a 19.5:9 OLED display.

However, it appears that the G7 Neo’s display won’t make it to the G7 proper. The Investor reports that the LG G7 is only going to feature an LCD display as the company is looking to keep costs in check.

LG’s first smartphone with an OLED display was last year’s V30. It used the company’s own POLED technology instead of panels from rival Samsung which companies like Apple are also using for their OLED smartphones.

None of this has been officially confirmed by LG as yet so take this information with a grain of salt. Other recent reports suggest that the LG G7 is going to be released in May this year.
