The HTC Vive Pro pre-orders have finally opened today. The company has confirmed how much it’s going to charge for its higher-resolution headset and it’s now taking pre-orders from customers willing to put money down for this headset. It’s selling the headset only as the Vive Pro has been designed to be replaced with the existing Vive headset with the old lighthouse tracking beacons and controllers. HTC has also cut the price of the original Vive headset.
Customers can pre-order the HTC Vive Pro starting today for $799. As previously mentioned, this amount is just for the headset only. The Vive Pro is the first major upgrade to the Vive platform ever since it was first launched in 2016. The resolution has been bumped up to 1400×1600 pixels per eye while several design changes have been made as well to provide users with more comfort.
They won’t get new beacons or controllers with their purchase. The company will confirm the price for a full Vive Pro kit at some point in the future. HTC has also cut the price of the original Vive headset by $100. It now costs $499 and is readily available for purchase. The Vive Pro can only be pre-ordered right now and it’s going to be shipped starting April 5th.
Customers who purchase a Vive Pro by June 3rd will receive a free six-month subscription to HTC Viveport.
