This is according to a report from HTC Source who cites a “trusted source” who claims that the company is looking to streamline their mobile operations, ultimately dropping plans for a second flagship phone in the later part of the year. So far dual flagship phone launches have become common practice for the likes of Samsung, LG, and HTC, but it looks like HTC might be dropping that practice this year if the rumors are true.
Admittedly HTC’s smartphones haven’t exactly been particularly well-received or having been moving a ton of units as of late. So much so that the company has actually sold off its smartphone team to Google late last year. That being said, many companies do get by with a single flagship launch, so we suppose it could be enough.
Rumor has it that the HTC U12+ will be launching in May so it looks like we still have a couple of months to go until we get the official details, so until then take it with a grain of salt.
