In their latest attempt to win back the trust of their users, Facebook announced that they will be cutting ties to several large data brokers who use Facebook’s data to help advertisers target customers on the social media platform. According to a statement made by Graham Mudd, a Facebook product marketing director, this has apparently been in the works for the past few months. “While this is common industry practice, we believe this step, winding down over the next six months, will help improve people’s privacy on Facebook.”
Like we said, Facebook has been trying to come up with ways to deal with the fallout from this scandal, with the most recent effort from the company being making privacy tools easier to find, thus allowing users to adjust their privacy settings in an easier manner. Whether or not this will be enough to regain the trust of their users remains to be seen, but so far several companies have been taking a stance against them.
For example Tesla recently deleted their Facebook page along with Playboy. Companies such as Mozilla and Sonos have also pulled their ads from the social network.
