In the world of smartphones, companies try to outdo each other by improving on features such as the camera, where every release we’re bound to see improvements made in that area. It seems that Samsung has done something right because according to DxOMark’s rankings, they have found that the Galaxy S9+ has the best camera for mobile devices at the moment.

Prior to that, that honor went to Google’s Pixel 2 which obviously has since been dethroned and fell to second place. Apple’s iPhone X is only sitting in third place which is interesting when you consider that Consumer Reports had only earlier claimed that the iPhone X had the best smartphone camera.

We suppose the testing methods might have been different and the things that DxOMark and Consumer Reports were looking for could have been different as well. According to DxOMark, “The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus is a smartphone without any real weaknesses in the camera department. In both still and video modes, it performs well across the board, delivering consistently good photo and video image quality in all light and shooting situations.”

They add, “Add one of the best smartphone zooms and a capable bokeh simulation mode to the mix, and the Galaxy S9 Plus is difficult to ignore for any photo-minded smartphone user. With the Galaxy S9 Plus, Samsung is setting the pace for 2018. We’ll see if the competition can follow suit.” Whether or not you agree with their review is up to you, but so far the general consensus seems to be that Samsung has managed to deliver an amazing camera, so maybe head on over to the stores and check it out in person if you’re curious.
