Apple is yet to make any MacBook-related announcements this year but there has already been a lot of speculation about what the company might announce. The well regarded Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities has predicted in a note to investors that Apple is going to release a cheaper 13 inch MacBook Air in the second quarter of this year.
Kuo predicts that Apple is going to release a new MacBook Air “with a lower price tag” in the second quarter of 2018. If the information is accurate then we may not have to wait for long before the company’s cheaper MacBook Air hits the market. The analyst adds that the lower price point will help Apple increase MacBook shipments by up to 15 percents this year.
There aren’t a lot of details available about this new MacBook Air itself so it’s unclear what specifications it may have that would make it cheaper than the current MacBook Air that starts at $999. The MacBook Air remains a popular notebook even though Apple hasn’t really updated the lineup for a few years now.
If Apple is really planning on launching a new MacBook Air at a lower price point, we can expect to hear more rumors and reports about it in the coming days.
