When it comes to RTS games, it’s hard not to think about Blizzard’s StarCraft. The game helped to generate a ton of popularity in the RTS competitive scene, and for many years despite it being old, the original StarCraft remained a popular title to play during competitions, which was later succeeded by StarCraft 2.
Now it looks like the original StarCraft is turning 20 years old, and Blizzard has announced their plans to celebrate it. Starting from the 6th of March, it seems that Blizzard will be spending close to a month celebrating the game turning 20. This will come in all kinds of in-game goodies that can be applied to Blizzard’s various franchises.
For example in StarCraft: Remastered, players will receive a 20th Anniversary UI skin, while a UI skin will also be given to players who play StarCraft 2. There will also be pets and skins for other Blizzard games like Diablo 3, Overwatch, and World of Warcraft. Blizzard will also be giving away three Kobolds & Catacombs packs for Hearthstone players between the 21st to 25th of March. More information can be found on the StarCraft website.
It is unclear as to where Blizzard plans on taking the franchise moving forwards, but for fans, here’s hoping we’ll be able to expect a new StarCraft game soon.
