With the Android P developer preview already having been released, it is surprising that there are quite a few devices out there that have yet to be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo. In fact the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is one of them, although if recent reports are accurate, that could be changing in the near future.

According to what appears to be a post by Samsung on their support site, it seems that the Note 8 will be receiving its Oreo update in the next couple of weeks. The support document appears to be about the Oreo update for Samsung devices, in which it notes that the Oreo update will begin rolling out to Galaxy S8 and S8+ users in Canada starting 19th of March.

It also notes that the Galaxy Note 8 will start receiving their update on the 28th of March, with older Samsung devices expected to receive it in the spring/summer of 2018. This includes the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, Galaxy A5, and Tab S3. However it is unclear if this is limited to Canada or if those dates are applicable to all devices.

In any case as we have seen in the past, releases can be delayed when passing through a carrier, so for those who bought their phones via a carrier, your release date might differ, but either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more info.
