So far when it comes to noise-cancellation features, they tend to be limited to larger headphones, such as on- or over-ear style headphones as opposed to earbuds like the AirPods. However stuffing noise-cancellation into the AirPods will make it an even more compelling purchase, especially with rumors that the new AirPods could feature water-resistance.
There are also reports that the new AirPods could launch with a Siri co-processor that will allow it to understand “Hey Siri” commands, similar to that of the HomePod. The AirPods were launched in December 2016 which means that it is pretty ripe for an upgrade. The headphones were initially mocked but has since proven to be a hit product for Apple, where for a while they were pretty difficult to get ahold of.
Not to mention Apple has plans to launch a wireless charging case for the AirPods which should allow it to work with the upcoming AirPower wireless charging mat that the company is expected to release this year, and possibly this month if the rumors are to be believed.
