Now it looks like VSCO wants to do the same as well with its newly launched Discover feature that uses an AI called “Ava” to help make personalized recommendations to users. For those unfamiliar, VSCO is a photo editing app that also comes with its own community where users can upload their photos and share them with others, although admittedly it hasn’t really gained the same amount of steam or traction compared to Instagram.
According to VSCO, Ava will use information from human curators “to deliver recommendations that align with the emotions and narratives of the content that users engage with, rather than simply identifying images through similar objects or formats.” Basically this is an AI that will try to make recommendations based on what it thinks you “feel”, in which the results should actually be rather interesting.
The feature should already be live for iOS users using the VSCO app, and it is expected to find its way onto the Android version of the app soon.
