Nintendo pulled out all the stops to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. and while fans across the globe could take part in the festivities in one way or another, there was one thing that fans outside Japan couldn’t get, the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia. Fans in the United States can now rejoice because Nintendo has confirmed the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia release date for customers in the country.
As the name suggests, the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia is a 256 page book that’s filled with information and artwork for the 17 games that were released as part of the Super Mario series. True to its name, the encyclopedia provides character information, developer interviews, and other interesting details.
Think of this as a sanctioned guide to the vast Mario universe from the years 1985-2015. The date range reveals that titles like Super Mario Run and Super Mario Odyssey won’t be mentioned in this book unless it has since been edited again to add information about these titles.
Dark Horse Publishing has confirmed that the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia will be available for purchase in the United States starting October 23rd for $40. It’s possible that the encyclopedia may be launched in some other markets as well but they haven’t been confirmed as yet by the company.
