Whenever Nintendo launches a new console, there are certain titles that one can expect to launch for it. This includes a new Super Mario game, a new Mario Kart game, and also a new Super Smash Bros. game. So far for the Nintendo Switch we’ve gotten two out of three, but what about the third?
According to a post on the ResetEra forums by Emily Rogers (who has been pretty accurate about Nintendo information in the past), it seems that Nintendo has plans to announce and release a new Super Smash Bros. title later this year. No specific dates were mentioned, but we suppose an announcement around E3 2018 wouldn’t be entirely out of the question, unless Nintendo plans to do it earlier or later.
We have been hearing reports about Super Smash Bros. arriving for the Switch, and last year there were even alleged screenshots from the upcoming game. At this point in time it is unclear as to what the game will be about, and whether or not it will follow in the heels of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe where it will be a port of the Wii U title, or if it will be brand new.
However according to Rogers, it could be a mix as apparently Nintendo will be introducing brand new content, as well as re-worked content from the Wii U and 3DS titles. In any case take it with a grain of salt, but if Super Smash Bros. for the Switch is something you’ve been looking forward to, hopefully we’ll have more information to share later this year.
