The idea is meant to be more efficient, where people can do their grocery shopping quickly minus the hassle of queuing at the cashier which can take a while. Now clearly this was a trial that Amazon conducted, but it looks like the company has plans to expand on it. According to a report from Recode, it seems that Amazon could be thinking of launching six more Amazon Go stores later this year.
This is according to their sources who told them that Amazon has been in talks with developer Rick Caruso about launching their new Go stores in Los Angeles at The Grove. However Amazon has since declined to comment on the report, and Recode claims that Caruso nor his company’s spokesperson has responded to queries for a comment.
However we suppose Amazon expanding Go isn’t so much a matter of if, but a matter of when. We have also heard that the company was planning on bringing the system to the UK based on a trademark filed in region, but once again there is no official word just yet.
