As you can see in the image above, the latest update to Shazam will bring about a new interface that is more straightforward than before. It will now display identified songs with a full screen image of the artist/band, the song name, and the artist. This is a stark contrast to its previous design where it was cluttered with links to YouTube, Apple Music, iTunes, and more.
In addition to the new interface, the update will also bring about a new Lyric Syncing feature. What this does is that it will display the song’s lyrics in real-time and will highlight each line as the song is being sung (assuming you’re not listening to an instrumental). A nifty if not a rather novel feature to have.
Shazam is currently in the process of being acquired by Apple, although it seems that over in the EU there might be some roadblocks as regulators will be taking a closer look at the deal. This is following complaints about how Apple’s acquisition could have an adverse effect on the competition.
