HMD Brings Back Another Nokia Classic With The Nokia 8110

We know that many were surprised when HMD Global decided that one of the Nokia phones that they would be bringing back to the market would be the Nokia 3310, but it turned out to be something of a hit, especially in markets that still use feature phones. Now it looks like the company is back with yet another classic from Nokia’s portfolio in the form of the Nokia 8110.

For those unfamiliar, the Nokia 8110 was launched in 1996 and what made it such a unique device was its banana-like shape and the fact that it had a slideout cover that not only protected the keypad, but also allowed users to answer calls in that manner. It was also made more popular thanks to its appearance in The Matrix in 1999.

Now that the phone is back nearly about 22 years later, clearly there have been some changes. Its banana-like form factor still remains, but HMD has made the buttons sit more flush against the body of the phone, and have also given it a color display. It is still a feature phone but it will feature 4G connectivity and will come with apps like Google Maps, Google Assistant, Google Search, Facebook, Twitter, and yes, Snake.

It will also boast an insane battery of an estimated standby time of 17 days, or 9 days worth of talk time. It will also sport a 2MP rear-facing camera and will be powered by a Qualcomm 205 Mobile Platform chipset with 512MB of RAM. The Nokia 8110 will be launched this coming May where it will retail for around €79.
