However it looks like we finally have a date to look forward to, and that is September 2018. This was confirmed by the Nintendo of America Twitter account who revealed the timeframe that we can look forward to. Of course this isn’t necessarily a good thing since it means that gamers will need to start paying to use the service, but we guess it’s also good news since it’s been such a long-awaited feature.

For those unfamiliar with the pricing of the Nintendo Switch’s online service, it will be priced at $19.99 a year which is actually pretty affordable. Alternatively gamers can opt to pay month-to-month at a price of $3.99 a month. So far multiplayer on the Switch has been free, but like we said the launch of the service means that gamers will need to start paying if they don’t wish to lose multiplayer functionality.
However in addition to giving players access to multiplayer, the subscription also means that Nintendo will be giving gamers access to classic games from their catalogue, and will include features like leaderboards and multiplayer.
