This is according to a report from Kotaku UK in which they are basing their data from over 18,000 games and 250,000 reviews that were listed on Metacritic. “For as many games that had listed release dates (the overwhelming majority), we then calculated how many titles were available for the system on a given number of days from launch.”
However as Kotaku UK points out, there is a caveat in which it is dependent on Metacritic’s data being accurate in the first place, and assuming that it is, it is amazing that the Switch actually has more games than a console that was in existence for five years. Of course that was one of the criticisms of the Wii U, which is the lack of games and also a lack of steady releases, something that Nintendo has clearly addressed with the Switch.
Not to mention there are probably still a ton of games in the pipeline that have yet to be released, and we could actually find out more as a Nintendo Direct presentation has been rumored for this month. In any case it is clear that the Switch is a success and it will be interesting to see how Nintendo plans to maintain its momentum for the next few years.
