However it seems that some Moto Z2 Force users are starting to lose that uniqueness of their phones because according to reports, users are reporting that the ShatterShield is starting to peel off on their devices. For those unfamiliar with ShatterShield, this is pretty much a “permanent” screen protector that is applied onto the phone’s display that supposedly gives it its “indestructible” quality.
However based on the reports, users are reporting that the layer is peeling off around the edges of the phone’s display and home button. The worst part is that if you choose to remove the protection, it could also cause the screen to be damaged and unusable, which kind of leaves users stuck in the middle of choosing between a potentially damaged display, or a weird and ugly peeling mess.
Now you would think that this could potentially qualify as a defect of sorts, but it seems that based on the responses by Motorola representatives on the forums, there will apparently be a fee involved to fix it. However there are some users who are reporting that they are getting free replacements, so it is unclear as to what the official stance is at the moment.
