There have been a lot of conflicting reports about Huawei’s upcoming P-series handsets in recent weeks but the latest leak might help put some of that speculation to rest, particularly because it comes from a source with a very good track report. The latest leaked picture of the Huawei P20 shows off a new design as well as a dual camera at the back.
Most Huawei P-series handsets have been quite similar in terms of design with a contrasting bar at the top on the back and thin bezels. The new leak shows that Huawei seems to have taken inspiration from the iPhone X for the P20.
The purported Huawei P20 image posted online today by Evan Blass a.k.a @evleaks shows a notch on the display that appears to be similar to the iPhone X’s notch. This does give the device a nearly bezel-less look even though the bottom bezel leaves a lot to be desired. Huawei seems to have stuck a fingerprint sensor on there even though the device has software navigation keys.
The Huawei P20’s back appears to be made out of glass entirely in this leaked photo and with the vertical placement of the dual camera it clearly takes some inspiration from the iPhone X as well.
Some reports have suggested that at least one variant of the P20 is going to feature a triple camera system at the back and this possibility has been reiterated by Huawei in its press invite for the launch event. However, this particular variant may just stick with the dual camera.
Huawei is due to unveil the P20 on March 27th in Paris so we’ll have to wait until then to find out more about these devices.
