It looks like HP has the same idea because the company has recently announced their new EliteBook series of laptops, and one of the laptop’s new features is a built-in webcam cover. This isn’t particularly fancy tech but it comes in handy for those who are privacy minded. However note that this is only offered to the non-touchscreen models because according to HP, the touchscreen models can’t accommodate the cover.
In addition to a webcam cover, the new EliteBook laptops will feature an improved “world-facing” microphone that is supposed to offer better quality audio during Skype sessions, or basically any kind of VoIP or video-conferencing session. The laptops will be offered in three different sizes, with the EliteBook 830 G5 sporting a 13-inch display, the Elitebook 840 G5 with a 14-inch display, and the EliteBook 850 G5 with a 15-inch display.
They will be priced at $1,049, $1,029, and $1,039 respectively and will be available later this month.
