For the most part, TVs do not come with built-in cameras, presumably out of privacy purposes and also because TVs are usually used for watching. However if you’re the type that has the need to use a TV as a video conferencing tool as well, you might be interested in a device called the Hello 2.
The Hello 2 is the predecessor to the original Hello that was launched last year. This is basically a gadget that you can attach to the top of your TV that will give it certain features that some might appreciate, such as video conferencing. As Solaborate, the company behind Hello 2, points out, making video calls with your TV is still a challenge in today’s hi-tech scene.
This either involves buying a smart TV and adding on equipment, or purchasing dedicated video conferencing equipment which can be quite expensive and might be way too much for smaller startups or individuals. With Hello 2, users will get a camera and a microphone built into one, where according to its creators, it will feature improved hardware from its predecessor.
This includes 112-degree field of view, night-vision, better motion and voice-detection, all of which could also be used as a home security camera. For those concerned about privacy, not to worry as the Hello 2 comes with buttons that will physically disconnect the video and audio feeds, so users won’t have to worry about whether or not they are being watched or being listened to.
Solaborate plans to launch Hello 2 (and a bunch of other Hello-related devices) on Kickstarter in the next month or so, but in the meantime you can head on over to its website to learn more or watch the video below to see the pitch for the original Hello.
