Android P is expected to be Google’s next major Android update and according to a report from Bloomberg, Google is said to be looking to improve the design of the operating system in a bid to attract more iPhone users and to persuade them to switch to Android. Exactly what these design changes entails remains to be seen.
According to Bloomberg, “A key goal of this year’s update to the Google mobile operating system is to persuade more iPhone users to switch to Android devices by improving the look of the software, the people said. They asked not to be identified discussing the private plans. A Google spokesman declined to comment.”
The report also goes on to note that the emphasis on Android P will be on Google Assistant, where Google could consider allowing developers to integrate the digital assistant with their apps, and also to integrate it into the search bar on the Android home screen. All of these changes do seem like a stark contrast to what Apple has planned for iOS 12, which last we heard will focus more on stability and performance improvements, rather than introducing major new features.
