In a report from GizChina, it seems that come 2019 Samsung could be ditching the Galaxy S branding in favor of using the “Galaxy X” branding instead. We suppose this makes sense because next year’s phone will be the Galaxy S10, so the Galaxy X would make sense, plus it is more elegant for future devices too.
Not to mention Samsung’s competitor Apple has already started to use the “X” in its branding, with last year’s model which is also expected to carry forwards into the future. That being said, we have heard rumors that Samsung could be using the Galaxy X for its foldable smartphone, but then again it is possible that the Galaxy X will be a series of devices, like how there is the Galaxy S8, S8+, S8 Active, and so on.
In any case take it with a grain of salt for now, but if it is true we wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung were to have something big planned for 2019.
