Discord Partners With eSports Teams To Be The Official Chat App

Over the years we’ve seen gamers go from one communications app to the other, and right now it seems like Discord is one of the more popular options out there today where it is at the point where most gamers use it for communications. However that isn’t enough as Discord wants to become the official chat app for gamers.

So much so that Discord has partnered up with several eSports teams to become their official chat app. This includes teams such as Team Liquid, DreamHack, as well as several teams within the Overwatch League. This program was launched on the 22nd of February in the form of verified servers where teams and their fans can chat with each other, share news, and also discuss upcoming events.

While this might have been done in a somewhat unofficial capacity, these changes means that Discord is looking to make it more official and presumably will be looking to partner with more teams in the future. In a statement released by Team Liquid, “When it came to making a decision on what voice communication software Team Liquid would use to communicate and create community with our fans, there was no question that Discord was the obvious choice. There’s simply nothing that rivals the quality of the product.”
