DICE Looking To Crack Down On Battlefield 1 Cheaters

As fun as multiplayer games are, there is also the inevitability of meeting people who don’t play nice, whether it be trolling, griefing, harassing, or straight out cheating. This is something that gamers need to deal with with online games, although admittedly many developers and publishers have come a long way in preventing that.

That doesn’t mean that games are cheat-free, as in a post on the Battlefield website, DICE is looking to clamp on cheaters in Battlefield 1. According to the company, they are claiming that to date they have managed to sanction 8,500 cheaters in the month of October last year, and are continuing their efforts to root out cheaters via its FairFight program.

The developer writes, “We are always developing new ways to detect players who prefer to circumvent the fair rules of the game, and we’re confident we will prevail. The Anti-Cheat teams here at DICE and EA are working hard every day to even out the playing field by removing cheaters from our games. We will not stop until the community is happy with the results.”

DICE is of course not alone in trying to weed out cheats. We’ve also seen how other developers such as Blizzard take a tough stance against cheaters, where gamers who are caught are immediately banned. This is versus in the past where gamers would usually receive either a warning or a temporary ban, which in some cases did nothing to dissuade them.
