If you’re looking forward to seeing more Destiny 2 content this year, you’ll be pleased to learn that during Activision Blizzard’s latest investor’s call, they confirmed that Destiny 2 will be getting a “major expansion” later this year, although they stopped short of telling us exactly what it will be about.Destiny 2 got its first expansion back in 2017 with Curse of Osiris, but apparently players weren’t too thrilled with the game’s developer Bungie, claiming that the studio had a lack of communication with its players. To remedy this Bungie then published a roadmap of Destiny 2 related content for the next few months, so the announcement of this “major expansion” comes as a bit of a surprise, although a good one.
As to what the expansion will entail is anyone’s guess, but presumably it will be on a larger scale similar to that of The Taken Thing expansion introduced in the original Destiny title. According to Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg, “We have a great expansion coming in May, and a major expansion coming at the end of the year, and those events have always been opportunities to re-engage our communities and win back people who have churned out.”
