Microsoft’s Cortana Now Available On IFTTT

While Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant seem to be more well-known as far as digital assistants are concerned, let’s not forget that Microsoft also has Cortana which they’re slowly trying to integrate into apps and devices. In the latest integration, IFTTT has announced that support for Cortana is now available.

For those unfamiliar, IFTTT is an automation app where users can chain together scenarios and commands. For example you could make it so that whenever your alarm goes off, it will then turn on the thermostat. Or users could set it so that whenever they take a photo, they can then attach it in an email to share. Basically IFTTT takes out several steps to help make certain tasks faster or even automatic.

According to IFTTT’s post on its blog, “Today, we are thrilled to announce that Microsoft’s Cortana is now on IFTTT and to welcome new communities of voice users to the flexibility of Applets. Available as a mobile app, Windows 10 app, and speaker — Cortana is ready to help wherever you go.”

With IFTTT announcing support for Cortana, users can now choose to use Cortana in certain IFTTT tasks. At its core it’s not much different from say Google Assistant or Alexa, but if you’re more of a Cortana user and prefer Microsoft’s digital assistant over the competition, then we guess this is an option worth checking out, especially with it being linked to about 550 apps and devices.
