These days it’s become increasingly common to find more connected household objects work with digital assistant systems like Amazon’s Alexa and Google Home. The good news is that if you are using Canary’s home security system, you’ll be interested to learn that it will now play nicely with Alexa (via 9to5Mac) on devices with screens.
What this means if that if you own an Echo device with a display, like the Echo Show or Echo Spot, or even compatible Fire TVs, you will be able to use Alexa to view the streams from the connected cameras. This is great news for those who are using the Echo or Alexa in their homes already.
However for those who do not own an Echo device and are relying on Apple’s Home app and the HomeKit ecosystem, there is some bad news. The company had earlier this month stated that they don’t have any information to share with regards to HomeKit integration. This is despite the fact that back in 2016, the company had teased HomeKit support and fast forward two years that feature is still missing.
No word on whether the company plans to ever support HomeKit or if it’s something they’re still working on, but for now it looks like Alexa users will be able to enjoy the added benefits.
