However the good news is that this was a mistake as clarified by EA community manager Ben Walke who posted on Twitter (via Eurogamer), “Just a heads up, but the store listing for #BurnoutParadise that mentions ‘In-game purchases optional’ is an error. There is no MTX or any additional paid for content. Pitch forks down please.”

In-game transactions have gotten a bad rep in the past few years, namely from mobile titles that are free-to-play but encourage in-game transactions to help speed things along, or in some cases purchasing items in-game using real-life money could allow players access to more powerful items, like weapons and armor, essentially creating a pay-to-win scenario.
Obviously this something that not many gamers appreciate, but hopefully EA’s clarification will put gamers at ease. Burnout Paradise Remastered is currently set for a release on the 16th of March for the PS4 and Xbox One, and PC version to follow later in the year. Unfortunately EA doesn’t seem to have any plans to launch the title on the Nintendo Switch.
