Facebook-owned WhatsApp first introduced WhatsApp Business back in September 2016. It was made available in beta and those who wanted to use it had to first sign up and then hope that they would be picked for the beta test. Over a year after it was first introduced in beta, WhatsApp Business has now been officially launched. The company is rolling out the app in five countries initially before expanding it to markets across the globe in the coming weeks.
WhatsApp Business is a free Android app for small businesses. It’s going to make it easier for those businesses to connect with their customers and make it more convenient for the service’s 1.3 billion users to chat with businesses that matter to them.
The app offers quite a few unique features like business profiles that include useful information like description, addresses, email, and website as well as messaging tools that help businesses provide quick replies to frequently asked questions and greeting messages that introduce customers to their businesses.
The customers will know that they’re talking to a business and not an individual on WhatsApp as it will be listed as a Business Account. The average WhatsApp user doesn’t need to download anything else to talk to businesses, they can do that from the app they already use, they’ll just see it in the chat that they’re talking to a business.
WhatsApp Business has been released in the United States, United Kingdom, Mexico, Indonesia, and Italy today. It’s available as a free download from the Google Play Store.
