However if you are on a device that’s even older than that, Niantic has a message for you, and that is Pokemon GO will soon stop supporting iPhones that aren’t capable of running iOS 11. The developer announced on its website their plans to stop supporting older iPhones starting on the 28th of February, 2018.
According to Niantic, “After that date, Trainers using affected devices may no longer be able to access their Pokémon GO accounts from that device, or use their PokéCoins or other items in their Bags. They will need to switch to a supported device to continue playing Pokémon GO.” The developer claims that this due to the improvements that they’ve made to Pokemon GO which will now demand a new iOS device.
Like we said, iOS 11 supports devices as old as the iPhone 5s, so those who will be affected will most likely be a small percentage. However if you are still using an older iPhone or know someone who does, this might be worth taking note of.
