Speaking to CNET in an interview, Lau confirmed that the company’s next flagship handset, presumably the OnePlus 6, will be launched late in the second quarter. In a way it is to be expected given that the OnePlus 5 was launched also in the second quarter of 2017, so it’s not surprising that OnePlus is keeping to their schedule, although it is nice to have it officially confirmed.
In addition to confirming its release timeframe, Lau also confirmed that the phone would be packing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, which once again doesn’t come as a surprise as it is the chipset that many flagship phones will most likely be packing this year anyway. In fact Lau was quoted as saying, “Of course, there’s no other choice.”
Other rumored specs and features of the OnePlus 6 include an in-display fingerprint sensor which Vivo and Synaptics showed off at CES 2018 earlier this week. Lau had also earlier revealed that the company is in talks with US carriers about possibly selling their handsets.
