If you’re like Oklahoma City Thunder player Paul George and love sneakers and Sony’s PlayStation console, then you’re definitely going to like Nike’s new PG-2 sneakers. Nike created the PG-2 in collaboration with Sony and George. It’s the NBA star’s latest signature shoe and since he considers himself to be one of the biggest gamers in the league, he wanted a shoe that represented his love for the PlayStation when he’s out on the court.
The Nike PG-2 sneakers pay homage to the PlayStation while being respectful of Sony’s intellectual property. The light-up “PS” logo can be found on a tongue while George’s own logo is on the other. The lights can be turned on or off using a button that’s inside the sneaker. It will give off a pulse that mimics the vibrations from a DualShock controller when pressed.
The batteries powering the lights are self-contained so they don’t need to be charged and they have a lifespan of more than 150 hours. The insole has a galaxy-inspired graphic that Sony created for Nike and it resembles the PlayStation’s dynamic wallpapers.
All of the lace locks have the same light colors as the buttons on the DualShock controller. There’s even a PlayStation Network barcode on the right show that will provide customers with a dynamic Paul George PS4 theme and another surprise that hasn’t been revealed yet.
They’re not just for show. George will be wearing them out on the court when he’s playing for his team which is why Nike’s Zoom cushioning technology is present on the midsole. The PS homage is completed by a blue rubber outsole that glows in the dark.
The limited edition Nike PG-2 sneakers will be available in stores starting February 10th for $110.
