Minecraft has been around for a while now and the community seems to be as active as ever before, if not more. It has been confirmed by Minecraft’s new boss that the game achieve a new record for the most number of active players ever. Minecraft head Helen Chiang has revealed that the game hit 74 million active players in December 2017.
Helen Chiang was recently appointed as the head of Minecraft. She takes over from Matt Booty, the former head of Minecraft, who has since been put in charge of the entire Xbox games effort of Microsoft.
Chiang has been with Microsoft for more than nine years and has served in multiple roles. She has been working with the Minecraft team for the past three years. She confirmed recently that the game set a new record last month for monthly active users.
It crossed 74 million active users. “That’s really a testament to people coming back to the game, whether it’s through the game updates or bringing in new players from across the world. That’s really our goal, to keep building the community that we have,” she said.
It has also been mentioned that more than 144 million copies of Minecraft have been sold so far across all devices. Minecraft fans will certainly be interested to see what new heights the game achieves under the new leadership.
