[CES 2018] In the past year or so, we’ve started to notice an uptick in artificial intelligence (AI) development, where it is being made pretty clear that our future lies with AI. That being said, for those who are looking to make their homes “smarter”, you’ll be excited to hear that LG has you covered for CES 2018.
Recently the company unveiled their new ThinQ Smart Speaker powered by Google Assistant, and also some new TVs that will be powered by their ThinQ AI, but that’s not all as LG has also announced their new ThinQ lineup of smart home appliances. As the title suggests, these are a series of home appliances such as refrigerators, dishwashers, an oven range, and so on that can actually “talk” to each other.
Take for example the InstaView ThinQ which is LG’s refrigerator that comes with Alexa baked into it. Users will be able to pick from recipes suggested by the fridge which detects the ingredients that you have on hand, and from there users can then send it to an oven for the next step.
Users will also be able to use Smart Tags that lets users add information to items in their fridge, such as expiration dates so that they can be alerted when food items are going to expire. Users can also check the contents of their fridge via a smartphone app to see what they need to buy. There is no word on pricing just yet, but we expect it probably won’t come cheap. LG will be demoing these new connected appliances at CES 2018 which kicks off this week.
