LG Pay U.S. Launch Expected By June

LG is expected to launch its mobile payments service called LG Pay in the United States by June this year. The company launched this service for the LG G6 in South Korea last year after having confirmed a few months earlier that it was working on its own mobile payments service. It’s similar in the way it functions to Samsung Pay.

Just like Samsung Pay, LG Pay has support for both NFC and Wireless Magnetic Communication. It uses wireless technology to send payment card information to traditional card machines, thus allowing merchants who don’t have NFC terminals to accept payments with conventional credit card machines.

LG has reportedly said that it’s going to launch LG Pay in the United States by June this year. It’s said to be launched as LG Wallet in the country. The launch will take place after the release of LG’s next flagship smartphone, the LG G7.

The report also mentions that LG is eventually going to expand this service from its premium smartphones to mid-range devices. The service will initially support the G7 and V40 flagship smartphones due this year before being rolled out to its K10 smartphone and other mid-range devices.

LG is expected to unveil its new flagship smartphone, the LG G7, at an event in March. The company has not yet confirmed when it’s going to officially launch the handset.
