One of the unique advantages to such a display is that according to LG, it can be rolled up and hidden when not in use. While TV technology has improved by leaps and bounds over the years, the fact that they still take up space when not in use can be a problem for those in small homes, so with a rollable display, users can choose to unroll it or hide it when they want.
As you can see in the images, this can create a rather unique setup for users where if they want, they can rolled it to become a full 65-inch display and watch their shows on, and when they’re done, they can roll it back, or roll it out partially where it can be used as a information display to show things like the weather, time, temperatures, and so on.
Unfortunately for now it appears that LG’s rollable display is more of a proof-of-concept rather than an actual product that you can buy, but given the advancements we’ve seen so far, it probably wouldn’t be too far off into the future where we can actually get our hands on such devices.
