Lenovo Mirage Camera with Daydream

Lenovo unveiled its new Mirage Camera at CES 2018, a VR camera that shoots with two lenses with each 180-degree field of view that is compatible with Google’s VR certification Daydream. Shooting VR video with a 180-degree viewing angle is a little easier than creating the traditional 360-degree video for VR that requires stitching. The pocket-size Lenovo Mirage point and shoot camera supports the Youtube ‘s new VR180 video format. Thanks to its dual 13MP fisheye cameras deliver a 3D stereoscopic effect by capturing the same image at two different angles.

Alongside the Mirage camera, Lenovo unveiled the world’s first Daydream standalone VR headset, the Mirage Solo. We expect that the Mirage camera delivers the most optimized video content for the Mirage Solo.

The Mirage camera offers three shooting mode: photo, video and live broadcasting and you can pair it to your smartphone with Wi-Fi direct. The 139 grams camera works with Google’s companion app VR180 so you can see what you are filming on the smartphone display.

Lenovo Mirage is well integrated with Google Photos and Youtube so sharing your content on those services is very easy. Powered by a Snapdragon 626 SoC with 2GB RAM, the camera features 16GB of eMMC internal storage and it can get up to 128GB of additional storage with an optional MicroSD. All content can be shared directly from the Mirage without the need for a smartphone, thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi.

You can choose to purchase the LTE version which is equipped with a Qualcomm X9 LTE cellular modem. The device recharge using a USB-C connector and delivers up to two hours of HD video recording on a single charge, according to the manufacturer. The Mirage Camera starts at $299.99 and will be available beginning of Q2 2018.
