How does it do that? For starters the hard drive will come with a variety of ports and connections, such as a micro USB plug (which can also be swapped for USB-C or Lightning), a regular USB port, a USB-C port, and a memory card reader. This means that users will be able to plug in their devices directly into the hard drive and backup their files, which like we said eliminates the need to bring a laptop out into the field.
This will come in handy for photographers, videographers, and yes, as the name implies, it will also be ideal for drone owners. There will be an accompanying app for smartphones or tablets that will help make the backup process easier and more visual, although the hard drive itself actually comes with a built-in LCD display of the monochromatic variety.
In terms of pricing, the LaCie DJI Copilot will not come cheap and is priced at $369 for the 2TB model. At the moment the hard drive will only be available in 2TB, so if you wanted something larger or smaller, you’d have to look elsewhere.
