The latest update to iOS brings about support for HomePod where according to Apple’s changelog, “Setup and automatically transfer your Apple ID, Apple Music, Siri, and Wi-Fi settings to HomePod.” Of course the update will be able to do more than that and will also introduce some new features to Siri, such as reading the news in general, or asking for specific topics.
The update will also bring about a bunch of bug fixes, so if you are experiencing some issues with your phone, hopefully the fixes in iOS 11.2.5 will be able to address some of them. Apple’s HomePod is priced at $349 and is available for pre-orders starting on the 26th of January. One could argue that the Cupertino company is late to the smart speaker party, but Apple is trying to separate themselves from the competition by focusing the HomePod more on music and audio quality, versus smart capabilities.
