[CES 2018] A couple of days ago HTC teased that come CES 2018, they would be unveiling a new HTC Vive headset. For those who are curious about what kind of changes/improvements that HTC could be making to the Vive, you’re in luck as HTC has officially announced the HTC Vive Pro.
This is the latest iteration of the HTC Vive from the company and according to them, the Vive Pro is aimed more towards virtual reality (VR) enthusiasts or even enterprise users who might demand better performance from their VR headsets. Some of the upgrades HTC has made to the Vive Pro includes dual-OLED displays with a higher resolution.
According to HTC, the combined resolution of the two screens is 2880 x 1600 which is a 78% increase over the current Vive HMD. The headset also comes with integrated high-performance headphones with a built-in amplifier to offer a richer sound, dual microphones with noise cancellation tech, and dual-front facing cameras.
Daniel O’Brien, GM U.S., VIVE was quoted as saying, “There’s a clear need in the VR market for a premium VR experience with high resolution display, integrated audio and the best components available today in a headset. Vive Pro offers an immediate upgrade for both VR enthusiasts and enterprises that want to utilize the best VR experience.” Pricing and availability was not mentioned, but HTC says that they will reveal that information soon.
