GoPro launched a 360-degree 5.2K camera called the Fusion last year. It looks like the companys’ Hero action cameras but offers different functionality. The camera launched in November 2017 to good reviews but there was a catch. It wasn’t compatible with Android devices at launch. That finally changes today. The GoPro Fusion Android support has been rolled out even if only for a handful of devices.
GoPro has released an update for its Android app that brings support for the GoPro Fusion 360-degree camera to about ten Android-powered models. The list is by no means exhaustive or final as GoPro says that it will add more devices as “we continue to improve stability, image processing and overall performance on the platform.”
The Fusion camera wasn’t as effective without the companion app and that made it very difficult for Android users to get any proper use out of it. The app is necessary if users want to adjust the settings, view images, and more. Now, they can access those features as long as they’re using the following devices.
The GoPro Fusion Android support has currently been rolled out for the Asus ZenFone AR, both generations of the Google Pixel/Pixel XL, LG V30, Moto Z Moto Z Force, Moto Z2 Force, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S7/S7 Edge, Galaxy S8/S8+, and the ZTE Axon 7.
The updated app is available as a free download from the Google Play Store.
